For cycling extremists, 45 minutes away is Katy Trail, the 216-mile trail that travels along the Missouri River. They have 220 sites with full hookups, cable television and wireless Internet. A few sites had fire rings but most didn't. Not only is it a big campground, but it is surrounded by lots of other campgrounds, both public and commercial. Lots of trees but no problems other than lack of satellite service.
After six workers spent several hours attempting to fix it unsuccessfully , we were moved to a different site. The roads were also well maintained and made the sites easy to back into. Other great family activities include miniature golf and playing in the on-site pool. We have horse trails, kayaks, canoes, and floating available on the beautiful Castor River. The big draw here is, of course, the lake which actually feels more like a river in the vicinity of the campground. Unfortunately, there isn't water available at each site, but there was a spigot a few sites down from us. Everything you need is here for a quiet getaway.
No pool on site, but can use one at their sister hotel. The Branson area has plenty of shopping, hiking, and dining opportunities that campers can enjoy. It offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service, free wireless Internet and an on-site pool. The stunning mountainous landscapes are filled with lush forests, grassy plains, rushing rivers, and serene lakes. The campground appeared to be pretty rundown. A little signage would be nice.
Visit Bass Pro Shops, Wonder's of Wildlife, Fantastic Caverns, Exotic Animal Park, Wilson's Creek Battlefield, antique malls and many great golf courses. The park itself is a magnificent place for a relaxing vacation to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Country store well stocked and golf carts performed well at getting us back and forth to our remote camping area.
